BIOGRAPHY

Ceyda Özbaşarel is an Istanbul based singer, song writer, composer and educator.

She was born in Istanbul in 1974. After gratuating from YTU Enviromental Engineering in 1997 she worked in several areas.

She has been passionate about music since her childhood so she decided to study music. She gratuated KOU Piano Department as the top scoring student in 2005. She earned her Pedagogy Master degree in 2007, since then, she has been a piano and vocal educator.

Ceyda wanted to learn more about jazz and she took jazz improvisation lessons from Randy K. Esen and Donovan Mixon. She attended  Sheila Jordan, Kevin Mahagony and Aydın Esen workshops.

She has been singing jazz and her own songs in jazz clubs and various concert venues since 2009.

She was invited as a guest vocalist at Garanti Jazz Tree -a Nu-Dc project based on tribute concerts of jazz legends. She participated at Nina Simone, Cole Porter and John Coltrane tribute nights.

Ceyda has been a co-founder of bi' şarkım var! (I have a song!) project  (an open mic night which showcased songwriters) with Başak Yavuz since 2014. They recorded "bi şarkım var! studio" the songwriter compilation album in 2016.

She was in Şevket Akıncı's Escher Chronicles and Radyo Ekoton, Başak Yavuz's A Little Red Bug, Banu Kanıbelli's Lobna's Song as a guest vocalist.

Ceyda has recorded her debut album "Madtime Stories" in 2020, which will be released in 2021.
